Newlands & 80304 Neighborhoods

The Newlands neighborhood was originally developed in 1871 by the Newland family that had a large apple orchard. In the 1920’s, the apple orchards were divided up in lots for sale. This was done again in 1940”s. Most of the homes today have been renovated with tops being popped and expanded. In 1922, Boulder Community Hospital opened and remained as an anchor for the area until recently. The hospital moved to East Boulder where future expansion could be realized.

Newlands sits at the foot of Mount Sanitas between the Mapleton Historic area and continues North to the Wonderland Hills area. There are miles of hiking trails nearby. Newlands also includes the wonderful Ideal Market Shopping Center which is on the East border of the Newlands neighborhood. Here you can find restaurants, retail, an exclusive wine shop, a small but awesome grocer, bagels and coffee shops. Additionally, Newlands is only a few blocks from the Downtown Pearl Street Mall which offers everything you might want.
